What that means in practice

The tours listed here are sold through GetYourGuide and Viator. When you follow a link from one of these pages and go on to book, the platform pays us a share of its own commission. You pay the same fare either way; the price on the booking page is the operator's price, not a marked-up one.

What we are not

We are not a tour operator. We do not run any of these tours, employ any of these guides, skippers or instructors, or hold your booking. Your contract is with the operator, through the platform.

We have no connection with the Comune di Portofino, the FAI, the regional park, the marine protected area, the public ferry and boat lines or any tour operator.

How tours get listed

Operators cannot pay for placement, position or a badge. A badge on a card is a measured claim: Top rated only on a tour rated 4.9 or higher, Best seller only on the tour with the most reviews, Best value only on the cheapest. A platform's own badge is not shown. Today Best seller sits on the kayak from Paraggi, which is also the lowest fare, so it carries one badge only.

The featured tours at the top of the homepage are three different kinds of day from three places: a small-group boat from Portofino harbour, a ferry, walk and pesto class from Santa Margherita, and a kayak from Paraggi.

The small-group boat from Portofino harbour to San Fruttuoso and Camogli is sold on both platforms by the same operator. The two listings are never shown side by side, and each is described from its own page.

Prices, ratings and how current they are

Prices, star ratings and review counts belong to the operators and were taken from their own listings on 28 September 2026. They move, and the figure at checkout is the one that counts. Every fare is quoted in US dollars because that is the currency the listings were captured in; nothing is converted at an exchange rate. A listing's time-limited discount is not shown, because it ends; the fare shown is the bookable one.

Most fares are per person, and most private boats are priced per boat; each price says which. Two private boats from Rapallo label their fare per person but price it by the size of your party, so their from-price is the fare for one traveller and says so. Where a listing adds a fee paid on board, such as a fuel surcharge in cash, that fee is printed beside the price in the listing's own figures, in euros.

The abbey's and the castle's prices and hours, and the public ferry's fares, are the FAI's, the comune's and the ferry consortium's own, from their 2026 pages. Where a detail comes from a listing, such as a meeting point, a group size or what the fare covers, it belongs to that tour.

What we deliberately do not publish

• The abbey ticket "included". No listing includes it. Some mark the stop at San Fruttuoso "free" or "admission included", which describes the bay, not the abbey's own ticket at its door.
• A landing the listing does not state. Many boats sail past the village without putting anyone ashore, and some leave landings to the skipper. Only a landing a listing states is printed.
• A one-traveller fare as a party price. Where a boat is priced by party size, the from-price is never shown as the cost for your group.
• A ferry single fare. The ferry's own table heads that column in a way that reads as one-way or reduced, so only its return fares are printed.
• A price without its fee. Where a boat adds a fuel surcharge on board, the price is never shown without it.
